Hanmer Springs, with its natural thermal pools, is part of the South Island's Alpine Pacific Triangle scenic route, along with Kaikoura which is famous for whale watching, crayfish and mouthwatering 'kai' from the sea; close by Waipara Valley which offers a fantastic selection of wineries. Nearby activities include alpine walks, golf, minigolf and maze, bungy jumping, quad biking, jet boating, horse riding, fishing and the Amuri Ski Field in winter. The high country Molesworth and Rainbow Station roads are accessible from Hanmer in summer.
